UE3 also had a few good games that looked different from each game - Guilty Gear XRD, Mirrors edge. Arc have already announced a follow-up for consoles but heck, they're finally catching up!Īs for the other games, River City Super Sports Challenge -All Stars Special- will arrive later this month, BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma Extend is due in February 2016, Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code in spring 2016 (I believe it's already on PC, but not translated), and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late in summer. Installation Step 1: Unreal Live Link Plug-in for iClone. Xrd -Sign- will be on Steam tomorrow (or very early Thursday morning, for us). Check out this GDC talk from technical artist Junya C Motomura if you're curious. It's even animated in a way similar to hand-drawn sprites, with a different pose each frame rather than interpolated movements. It's 3D, but looks a lot like really hi-res 2D until cutscenes or fancy moves break out different camera angles. Developers Arc System Works took a few years longer than Capcom to switch their series to 3D, but ended up with a game looking a whole lot like, well, hand-drawn art. Street Fighter IV brought the 2D sprite fighting game art style nicely into a world of 3D models and swooshing cameras, but deary me the transition in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- is amazing.
